The rugby season is back, and so is Scimitar’s Rugby Round-Up!

Every week throughout the rugby season, we’ll be bringing you the latest results, standout performances and biggest moments from teams across the UK who proudly wear Scimitar kit. From the opening fixtures and hard-fought league battles to big wins and dramatic finishes, it’s our chance to celebrate the clubs and players representing Scimitar on the pitch.

This week, not all teams were back in action just yet, with the start of the seasons in National 2 and below delayed following the UK’s long, hot summer, which left pitches particularly dry. However, there was still plenty of action to get the 2026/27 season underway.

Here’s how some of our Scimitar teams got on this weekend…

National League 1

Bishops Stortford 52–42 Dings Crusaders

Bishops Stortford got their 2026/27 National League 1 campaign off to a flying start with a 52–42 home victory over Dings Crusaders.

It was an action-packed opening game, with both sides finding their way over the try line in a high-scoring contest. For Stortford, the result was made even more special as they took to the pitch in their brand-new Scimitar kit for the first time.

A winning start in their new colours – and what a way to kick off the new season!

WRU Premiership

Narberth 52–14 Bonymaen

Narberth also made an impressive start to their new campaign, securing a commanding 52–14 victory over Bonymaen in the WRU Premiership.

A strong attacking performance saw Narberth rack up 52 points to claim a well-earned opening-day win and lay down an early marker for the season ahead.

A fantastic start for Narberth as they begin their 2026/27 campaign in style.

WRU National League

Lampeter 27–26 Aberaeron

It was a much closer affair for Lampeter, who edged past Aberaeron 27–26 at home in the WRU National League.

In a game that went right down to the wire, Lampeter held on to secure a one-point victory and start the new season with a win.

They may have won by the skin of their teeth, but it’s the result that counts – and Lampeter have their first victory of the 2026/27 season in the bag.

A Winning Start

With the new rugby season now underway, it’s been a promising opening weekend for our Scimitar teams, with three wins from three across the fixtures featured in this week’s Round-Up.

Next weekend brings another exciting round of fixtures as the competition tightens. With several clubs gaining confidence and others eager to bounce back, expect more drama, intensity, and quality rugby ahead.

Stay tuned for next week’s Rugby Round-Up!
