Today, the North of England Children’s Cancer Research launched the 2018 rendition of the Children’s Cancer Run, due to take place on the 20th May at Newcastle Racecourse, Gosforth Park.
It’s proven to be a huge fundraising event for the charity. The event started through Kings School in Tynemouth, Tyne and Wear over 36 years ago, set up as one of the pupils of the school was suffering from cancer of the kidney.
Fast forward to last year’s Children’s Cancer Run, where over £249,000 was raised to help combat the disease and support suffering children.
This year, you can expect to join over 8,000 runners at the 36th Children’s Cancer Run, in what is a fantastic family day out. There are multiple distances available, where participants can choose from the Mini Mile, three or five mile cross-country routes. It’s quite simple really – everything you raise in sponsorship will help more children beat cancer.
Support spreads to local companies – some you’ll be familiar with and others you won’t Corporate supporters include Greggs, Stagecoach North East, Metro Radio, Altogether Creative, Shiremoor Press, Sign Sign Signs, PES Security, The Encore Group, St John Ambulance and Apex Radios, who’s input helps NECCR fund the organisation of the event.
