We’re delighted to be longstanding partners of VU Limited’s Cyclothon; an annual event at Brands Hatch in Kent.
It’s a brilliant event, and one we’ve definitely recommend getting involved with – particularly if you’re a rugby fan! You’ll understand what we mean in a minute or two.
Here’s the down-low.
Organised by ex-Bath & England rugby star Victor Ubogu, the Cyclothon is an endurance team relay event, brilliant for team building and networking.
There are two challenge lengths to choose from – twelve hours & eight hours. The event begins on the whistle in a Le Mans-style start, with riders running across the track to begin the event. Teams of 4-8 riders are given the flexibility to ride for as long as they want before entering the pits, handing over the timing chip and letting the next rider get on with their stint.
The day is fully catered for. If you’re taking part, expect all of the food, massages, medical & mechanical support you will need throughout the day to keep you going. The rugby link will be even more prominent in 2019, thanks to the fact that the Rugby World Cup begins within two weeks. A lot of the people involved in the event have a rugby connection; even down to the fact that one of the teams taking part is a Rugby Legends team.
Banter a plenty, we thinks!
If you’re a competitive soul, there are a number of great prizes up for grabs, including Fastest Male & Fastest Female, King & Queen of the Hill, Most Laps Completed & Best Celebrity Team.
Its time to sign up for next year, with the event pencilled in for Thursday 5th September 2019. Get your team of workmates together and get your places booked!
