As you may have seen across our social media channels, we are supplying custom cycling kit for Cycle Engage UK, a women’s team that will be taking part in a number of top national events.
With the big reveal taking place this Friday at Bike Chain Bissoe in Truro, we wanted to give you an insight into the team; from the humble beginnings to the aspirations for the year.
Originating in the South West, Cycle Engage UK aims to provide an elite national platform for women to compete in the cycling circuit. Upcoming events for the 2017 series include the HSBC UK National Women’s Road Series, The Tour Series, The National Road Race Championships and the Tour de Manc.
What about the team?
There are seven riders in Cycle Engage UK, each with a full-time job (except for Sophie Williams, who is still at school). Tom Staniford is the directeur sportif for the team, who picked up the National Para-Cycling Circuit Race title back in 2011. He will be utilising his first-class experience in cycling to ensure the Cycle Engage UK team are fully prepared for the event.
Away from competition, the second side to the team revolves around community. The group will be going above and beyond to promote cycling as an everyday form of transport, while promoting the safe use of cycle routes and roads. This is achieved by working with local communities, businesses and councils within the South West area of the country.
We’re delighted to be working with the team, and cannot wait for the kit reveal to take place on Friday. Our elite kit (used by the TORQ Performance MTB & Track Cycling teams) is designed with superior technical performance, ultra levels of comfort and, of course, to look amazing!
We’ll be covering the event live from Truro, with a range of live videos and posts across all of our social channels. Make sure you follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram to be kept in the loop.
