Back in September 2021, Scimitar was unveiled as the official kit supplier to Pentathlon GB.
The partnership saw us supply the governing body with custom sportswear that has seen athletes promote Scimitar at international events for the last three years.
Over the years, we’ve made some amazing memories, from Cairo to Bath we’ve followed Pentathlon GB around the world as they’ve won medals of every colour. With this in mind we thought we would take a look back at some of the memorable moments over the last few years.
Success in Scimitar
Since the commencement of the partnership, the Scimitar logo has been displayed and showcased at events around the world with a fair share of gold, silver, and bronze medals being won while doing so.
With this in mind lets take a look at some of the team’s achievements while wearing Scimitar.
2021
• Olivia Green won individual gold, and the team of Olivia, Emma, and Alex secured gold at the U24 European Championships in Drzonkow, Poland.
2022
• Kerenza Bryson and Joe Choong are crowned British Open Pentathlon Women’s and Men’s Champions, respectively.
• Emma Whittaker won bronze at the World Cup in Cairo, Egypt.
• Jess Varley and Ross Charlton earned silver in the mixed relay at the Cairo World Cup.
• Joe Choong took silver at World Cup 3 in Albena, Bulgaria.
• At World Cup 4 in Ankara, Turkey, Joe Choong and Jess Varley won gold, with Kate French securing bronze.
• Joe Choong claimed gold at the Pentathlon World Championships in Egypt.
2023
• Kerenza Bryson won silver at the Hungarian Indoor Open in Budapest and gold at World Cup 4 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
• Myles Pillage and Jess Varley won bronze at the World Cup in Ankara, Turkey.
• Charlie Brown and Kerenza Bryson captured mixed relay gold for Great Britain at World Cup 4 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
• Joe Choong secured silver in the World Cup final in Turkey.
• Both the men’s and women’s teams won silver at the Laser World Championships in Bath.
2024
• At the Hungarian Indoor Open in Budapest, Emma Whitaker won silver, Kerenza Bryson took bronze, and Charlie Brown secured gold.
• Kerenza Bryson won bronze at World Cup 1 in Cairo, Egypt, and gold at World Cup 2 in Ankara, Turkey.
• Jess Varley earned silver at World Cup 4 in Sofia, Turkey.
• Emma Whitaker and Alex Bousfield won gold at the European Championships in Budapest, where Whitaker and Kerenza Bryson also achieved individual gold medals.
Development of the sport
While the Pentathlon GB team has added plenty of medals to their collection there have also been some milestone developments for the sport.
From the start of the partnership, Scimitar became Pentathlon GB’s elite performance and pathway kit supplier, ensuring that the best young modern pentathlon talent was in Scimitar.
During this time the governing body made strides in the development of the sport itself with the introduction of their strategic hubs of excellence to help increase participation in the sport.
In the meantime, there have been other announcements such as the ICO’s decision to include modern pentathlon in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games with its new obstacle course discipline. The decision hopes to reduce the barriers to competing by dropping the equestrian discipline to increase worldwide participation and international mass participation events.
