Unbeaten Llandovery march on, Worcs win thriller
It was a busy weekend of rugby action for Scimitar-wearing clubs across the leagues, and another fine one for Indigo Group Welsh Premiership side Llandovery RFC.
The Drovers made it three wins from three as they saw off stiff competition from Newport RFC, picking up a 15-13 win at Church Bank.
Elsewhere in the league, Pontypridd were beaten 45-22 away at Swansea while Ebbw Vale’s unbeaten run came to an end at Cardiff RFC, as they went down 20-19 in a thriller.
In National 2 North, Rotherham Titans kept up their fine start to the campaign with a hard-fought 29-23 win at Wharfedale, making it four wins from five. The Titans sit just four points behind top-of-the-table Fylde as they look to push for promotion to English Rugby’s third tier (National 1).
In Regional 2 West Midlands, Worcester RFC edged a very tight contest with Evesham as a late drop-goal secured a 15-14 win, while Hereford beat Droitwich 40-17 away from home.
Both Worcester and local rivals Hereford, sit in 2nd and 3rd respectively after 4 wins from 5 to start the season – and just five points off league-leaders Ludlow.
This coming weekend there’s no league action for Rotherham, Worcester or Hereford, but there’s an all-Scimitar tie on Thursday night live on S4C as Ebbw Vale host Llandovery in the Indigo Group Welsh Premiership (kick-off 7.30pm). Pontypridd will host table-toppers Aberavon on Saturday at Sardis Road (2.30pm).
