Llandovery edge Ebbw Vale in nail-biter
For Scimitar-wearing clubs there was only action within the Indigo Group Welsh Premiership last weekend, with two of our teams going head-to-head in a thrilling contest at Eugene Cross Park.
Llandovery were the visitors, aiming to make it four wins from four, while Ebbw Vale were looking to get back on track after an agonising one-point defeat at Cardiff the week prior.
The home side had the edge at half-time, 17-13 after two tries to one, but Llandovery fought back with 10 points to go 23-20 up with 15 minutes to go. In a frantic finale, The Steelmen pressed and pressed for the line, and despite a man in the sin-bin for Llandovery, the visitors managed to shut them out and hold on for a tense victory.
Meanwhile, Pontypridd were beaten 33-18 at home by table-toppers Aberavon. Despite being 18-12 ahead late in the first-half, the visitors produced 21 unanswered points to make it five from five at the top.
This Thursday will see Pontypridd travel to Carmarthen Quins, which will be live on S4C (kick-off 7.30pm) – while you can also watch the live stream from our Facebook page by clicking here.
On Saturday, Ebbw Vale travel to Bridgend (2.30pm kick-off) while Llandovery’s unbeaten start will be put to the test by RGC (4pm kick-off).
In National 2 North, Rotherham Titans play a crucial home game against league-leaders Fylde, knowing a win could see them chase their opponents down (kick-off 2pm).
In Regional 2 West Midlands, Worcester RFC travel to Walsall while Hereford RFC host Evesham with both looking to close the gap on Ludlow at the top of the table.
