Here’s our Week 3 round-up.
A winning start to the Championship season.
Rotherham Titans marked their return to Championship rugby at Clifton Lane with a thrilling 38–35 victory over Coventry. It was a landmark occasion for the club, with Championship rugby returning to Clifton Lane for the first time in 3,080 days.
It was a game that went right down to the wire, with Coventry taking the lead into half-time. The Titans fought back strongly in the second half, completing the turnaround in dramatic fashion as Mitchell Lacey-Babalola crossed for the winning try in the 79th minute to secure a thrilling 38–35 victory.
We were there on Saturday with the Scimitar onsite shop as the Titans got their return to the Championship underway.
And what a way to start.
Another close one for Bishop’s Stortford, and another win!
The team travelled to Rams and came away with a 34–31 victory to continue their impressive start to the National League 1 season.
Speaking after the game in a post-match interview, the team’s head coach, Tom Coleman described it as a “very physical game”, while reflecting on how Bishop’s Stortford “dominated the first half.”
A big performance on the road and another important result for the club. Well done team!
Three from three.
Narberth continued their excellent start to the season with a 38–24 victory over Cross Keys.
Three games, three wins — a perfect start for Narberth as they continue their WRU Premiership campaign.
Can they make it four next weekend?
A tough afternoon for Lampeter on the road.
The Firsts produced a hard-fought opening half and went into the break with a narrow 7–6 lead. However, injuries and a lack of experience proved costly in the second half as Gorseinon took control of the game.
A difficult result, but plenty to build on as the season continues.
Well done to Gorseinon.
It wasn’t the result South Gower were looking for in their first home game of the season.
They showed plenty of fight throughout and finished the game strongly, continuing to battle right until the final whistle.
There will be plenty to take forward as South Gower look ahead to the next round.
One final tune-up before the league campaign begins.
