Hereford win at table-toppers, Ebbw bounce back

Four of our seven clubs enjoyed weekend wins in some thrilling action across the leagues in England and Wales.

Hereford picked up a valuable win away at table-toppers Ludlow in Regional 2 West Midlands, winning 23-7 and closing the gap to three points at the top after seven wins from their first eight games this season. Elsewhere in the division it wasn’t a great weekend for Worcester who went down 28-7 to Whitchurch and dropped to 5th in the table.

In the Indigo Group Welsh Premiership, it was a battle of the unbeaten sides as Llandovery travelled to Cardiff, playing out a thriller but the Drovers fell to a 29-26 defeat. The result saw Llandovery slip to third in the table as Cardiff replaced them in 2nd.

Ebbw Vale produced a comfortable 22-9, bonus-point win over Swansea to shoot themselves up to 5th but Pontypridd fell to 8th after an agonising home loss to Llanelli. The visitors scored two late tries to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat to win 31-29 after converting a very late try.

Rotherham Titans returned to winning ways in National 2 North with a smooth 27-3, bonus-point win over Huddersfield but sit in 5th in the table, looking to chase down the pack. This Saturday they travel to Sheffield.

In London & SE Division – Counties 2 Surrey, Chipstead RFC thumped London Exiles 57-12, sitting in 3rd in the table, just five points off top spot. This weekend presents a big challenge away at 4th-placed Old Whitgiftian.

This Saturday Hereford host Malvern as they try to chase down Ludlow at the top, while Worcester host table-toppers Ludlow.

There is no Welsh Premiership action this weekend, but there are televised ties showcasing our clubs the following week as Llandovery travel to Llanelli (Thursday 10 November, 7.30pm) and Ebbw Vale head to Aberavon (Friday 11 November, 7.30pm).

Then on Saturday 12 November, Pontypridd host Merthyr (kick-off 2.30pm).
