The second week of the 2026/27 rugby season is in the books, and there was plenty more action from our Scimitar teams across the UK.

With the start of the seasons in National 2 and below still delayed following the UK’s long, hot summer and the resulting dry pitch conditions, not every team is back in competitive action just yet. But for those who are playing, the new season is already delivering plenty of excitement.

From high-scoring league clashes and narrow results to final pre-season fixtures, here’s how some of our Scimitar teams got on this weekend.

National League 1

Bishops Stortford 30–61 Rosslyn Park

Bishops Stortford faced their second National League 1 fixture of the season at home this weekend, welcoming Rosslyn Park to Silver Leys.

It proved to be a tough afternoon for Stortford, with Rosslyn Park coming away with a 61–30 victory in a high-scoring contest.

Speaking after the match, Stortford’s Tom Coleman described it as a “tough game” as the team looks ahead to the next challenge of their National League 1 campaign.

WRU Premiership

Narberth 33–10 Llanelli Wanderers

Narberth continued their strong start to the season with an impressive 33–10 victory over Llanelli Wanderers.

And this one came on the road, making the result even sweeter.

A confident performance saw Narberth put 33 points on the board to secure a convincing away win and continue building momentum early in their game. A big result away from home and another positive step forward for Narberth.

WRU National League

Lampeter 48–52 Milford Haven

There was a real thriller for Lampeter, who welcomed Milford Haven in Week 2 of the WRU National League.

The two sides produced an incredibly close contest, with Milford Haven eventually edging it 52–48.

With 100 points scored between the teams, there was plenty of attacking rugby on show, with both sides producing some great play throughout the game.

A narrow defeat for Lampeter, but a performance that showed just how competitive this fixture was.

Pre-Season Action

Hereford 19–19 Old Patesians

While some teams have already begun their competitive season, Hereford were still in pre-season action this weekend as they welcomed Old Patesians for their final friendly.

The two sides couldn’t be separated, playing out an entertaining 19–19 draw.

It was also Hereford’s first home game at Wyeside a as they continue their preparations for the season ahead.

Rotherham Titans

Rotherham Titans 64–21 Durham University

It was another big Friday night at Clifton Lane for Rotherham Titans, who rounded off their pre-season schedule with a commanding 64–21 victory over Durham University.

The fixture marked Rotherham’s first Friday Night Lights of the year and provided the perfect final test before the Champ season gets underway next weekend.

And what a way to finish pre-season, with 64 points on the board and plenty of momentum heading into the competitive season.

Championship Rugby Starts Next Weekend

The wait is almost over for Rotherham Titans, with their Championship campaign getting underway next Saturday, 19 September, when they welcome Coventry to Clifton Lane.

The Scimitar team will be there to support Rotherham as they kick off their Championship season — and we’ll also have a Scimitar pop-up shop on site.

Fans will be able to pick up a range of Rotherham Titans merchandise, including the brand-new home and away replica jerseys, alongside other items from the club’s retail range.

If you’re heading to Clifton Lane, make sure you come and say hello and check out the new range.

Another Week of Rugby

With another weekend of rugby complete, the 2026/27 season is beginning to take shape.

There were big wins, narrow defeats, high-scoring contests and plenty of competitive rugby across our Scimitar teams — with even more clubs set to join the action as the season progresses.

And with Rotherham Titans beginning their Championship campaign next weekend, there’s plenty more to look forward to.

Stay tuned for next week’s Rugby Round-Up!
