The closing weekend of October delivered a fierce display of rugby across the Scimitar family. From hard-fought away battles to commanding home wins, the week showcased determination, teamwork, and the grit that defines the game as autumn conditions began to set in.
Momentum continues to build with teams refining set-piece structure, defensive shape, and transition play — all essential ingredients for a successful winter stretch.
Standout Performances
It was a weekend where Rotherham Titans led from the front, securing an impressive 38–28 home victory over Tonbridge Juddians in National League 1. Their attacking tempo and accuracy at the breakdown ensured they stayed firmly in control throughout the contest.
Elsewhere, Barkers Butts edged a dramatic 28–27 win away at Old Laurentians in the Counties 2 Championship Cup, displaying remarkable composure in the final minutes. progressed in the Counties 1 North Plate Cup via a home walk-over, keeping their momentum alive ahead of a busy November fixture list.
Meanwhile, Woodrush RFC also advanced after a home walk-over in the Counties 3 Championship Round 2, maintaining their strong run in the competition.
Despite a few setbacks, including Bishop’s Stortford’s 25–55 loss away at Clifton and Hereford’s narrow 22–30 defeat at Ludlow, both sides showed flashes of quality in open play and remain well-placed to bounce back next week.
In Wales, South Gower were awarded a loss by walk-over in their Welsh Cup fixture against USK, but their performances this season continue to inspire confidence within the squad.
