At Scimitar, sport is at the heart of everything we do – so it was only natural that our colleagues came together to create something truly special: the Scimitar Run Club. Born out of a shared passion for running, the club started with a few lunchtime runs between colleagues and quickly grew into something much bigger – a movement designed to promote wellbeing, shared goals, and break boundaries.
Why We Started the Scimitar Run Club
The Scimitar Run Club was set up by team members almost by accident to encourage everyone to feel able to exercise together, promote healthy living, boost team spirit, and provide a supportive space for anyone who wanted to get involved. From seasoned marathon runners chasing personal bests, to complete beginners taking their first strides, the Scimitar Run Club thrives on inclusivity. Everyone has a place here. Some run purely for fun and health, while others push themselves towards competitive times – but what unites us all is the feeling of belonging and encouragement.
Kitted Out the Scimitar Way
As specialists in custom sportswear, we knew our runners needed kit that looked sharp and performed even better. This ultra-lightweight material ensures comfort and moisture-wicking performance in every condition – making our team stand out on the road and in the crowd.
First Stop: Cardiff 10K with Run 4 Wales
The Scimitar Run Club made its debut at the Run 4 Wales Cardiff 10K, proudly competing in the Scimitar Business Challenge along with other corporate teams. It was an unforgettable day where our colleagues ran side by side, showcased our partnership with Run 4 Wales, and celebrated what can be achieved as a team. With everyone finishing strong – and our two fastest runners crossing the line in an impressive 37 minutes – it was a moment of pride for the entire Scimitar family.We were also lucky enough to receive personalised iTabs from our friends at iTab, featuring our names and finish times, to place on our medals – a wonderful reminder of an event we’ll never forget.
Looking Ahead
This is just the beginning for the Scimitar Run Club. With plans to enter more races, expand the group, and even open opportunities for clients and charity fundraising, the future is bright. Whether it’s pushing boundaries, making memories, or celebrating every step along the way, we’re excited to see where our Run Club takes us next.
