It was a spectacular debut for our ladies team as they ‘Stormed’ to a maiden win at the Middlesex 7s Festival at the weekend.
Taking part as a team under the guise of the Storm and the Loughborough University partnership for the first time, the ladies conceded just one try on the way to picking up the trophy.
Identified as a tournament to help gel the team ahead of upcoming tournaments, notable results include a 72-0 victory over Middlesex University and 68-0 over Kings College, before defeating Middlesex County in the Cup Final.
Next up for the ladies is a trip to the Ultimate Rugby 7s on the 19th May, where they’ll be competing along with the Storm mens team. After that, the team will be securing a 2nd June reservation for the Summer Social at Richmond Athletic Ground.
The mens team were also in action at the weekend, as the first round of the Super 7s Series took place at Bury St Edmunds Rugby. It was a mixed bag of results for the guys, as Scimitar Storm men lost to Oxfam Crusaders in the Plate Final after victories over Wales Exiles & England Students and defeats to Guildford Bears and British Army.
