Scimitar Thunder Run: Steel City 24

We’re delighted to reveal the all-new Scimitar Thunder Run: Steel City 24 hour event for 2018.
Due to take place in Graves Park, Sheffield on 31st August to 2nd September, we’re thrilled to be headline sponsors for this 24 hour running event. It’s the very first 24 hour run to be held within a UK city, yet still offers a traffic-free, off-road experience for participants. It will see see runners of all abilities coming to test their mettle and see how many 5k laps they can achieve over a 24 hour period.
The Format
There’s no limitation with the Scimitar Thunder Run: Steel City 24 hour event. Categories are open to both solo runners and relay teams of up to 8 members. The off-road 5k course may not be as technical as the Scimitar Lightning Run was last year, but still offers an engaging and challenging experience over tarmac, gravel, grass and woodland trails.
The 5km lap length is ideal for less experiencing runners and teams, allowing them to break stints down into bite-sized chunks. For hardened 24hr runners, the fast course can be used to see how far you can go in the allotted time. How many times can that PB be smashed? All finishers will be rewarded with a top quality finishers medal and complimentary technical running shirt developed by Scimitar, the UK’s favourite custom running kit supplier.
The Experience
As the first city event of it’s kind, the Scimitar Thunder Run: Steel City 24 hour event is pushing new boundaries. A camping ass from Friday through to Sunday is included with the entry fee. Better still, the cost includes you bringing along family and friends for free.
We’ve put everything in place to ensure the weekend is one to remember. Facilities include chip timing, live results, hot showers, flushing toilets, a team of masseurs to help keep you in top form, and top notch food. What is there for your supporter? Well, there’s a whole host of activities available to keep everyone else entertained with an animal park, two playgrounds, and a boating lake.
