After 7 rounds across 12 weeks, Street Velodrome is set to come to a close, with the SuperFinals taking place in the FanZone at Ride London this weekend.
Bringing the velodrome to high streets and public spaces, the free-to-spectate event has drawn vast crowds over the course of the calendar, and it’s not hard to see why.
With Buckingham Palace proudly situated in the background, the finale will see a selection of the best UK amateur & pro riders battling it out for glory to win the Street Velodrome series.
Split into geographical teams, Team Cornwall currently holds first place with 9 medals, with Team London and Angels of The North chasing hard. It’s all to play for, and anything can happen!
The Cause
This is what it’s all been about – touring the country and bringing track cycling to the forefront of the mind. The timing couldn’t be better; with the Olympics due to begin with the opening ceremony on 5th August.
How exactly does it work? It’s a case of a flat-out sprint race, lined up in an Olympic-style pursuit. The fastest over a set-distance is proclaimed the winner!
The TV cameras will be out, capturing the best of the action, whereas medals will be presented by Scimitar’s very own Business Development Manager Adam Yeomans. We’ll also have a Scimitar stand in the Fan Zone at Green Park, so be sure to pop by and say hello to the team.
Manufacturing all of the kit for Street Velodrome, we’re extremely proud to be part of an event that showcases the excitement and drama of track cycling, with the ambition of increasing awareness and participation.
