Sublimation Rugby Kit: The Modern Choice

Rugby Union playing kits have developed dramatically in the last 20 years.

From the previously sought after Jacquard woven cotton fabrics and dyed woven fibres, through to the hard-wearing, durable sublimation rugby kit of today, the evolution of Rugby kit has moved towards the provision of high quality, technical performance gear.
This can be seen across the premier leagues in Europe, from the Aviva Premiership in the UK and the French Top 14 to the Guinness Pro12 & Italian National Championship of Excellence.

Sublimation rugby kit

All clubs now wear sublimation rugby kit; you would actually be hard pushed to find a different type of rugby playing shirt. Clubs may provide a cotton variant for supporters to purchase, yet all playing performance shirts are crafted using sublimation techniques.
Why is this? It’s because sublimation rugby kit is manufactured using performance wicking polyester technical fabrics. These are strong, durable, dry quickly and wash on low temperatures.
Because of this, sublimation rugby kit should last a number of years. Sublimation print can easily be monetised, too; suppliers can add any number of logos within the initial price, as there is no price difference for additional logos, names or numbers.

Supplier variants

There are a number of manufactures which could be easily split by tiers; from those that supply retail garments and professional rugby clubs in the PRO 12 and Aviva Premiership, through to up-and-coming suppliers who have a large market share of amateur and semi-professional clubs.
That being said, the majority of suppliers use the same factories, and are therefore restricted during peak supply periods. This can often see priorities by those who makes the most noise.
This is why the majority of suppliers have issues with delivering on-time, and why they struggle with consistency of supply, fabric and quality control.
