Scimitar Storm’s rugby teams and ambassadors enjoy fine weekend
Last weekend was a wonderful weekend for everything Scimitar rugby related…
On Saturday, the men’s Scimitar Storm team enjoyed a super day as they defeated Lambs 7s, Karuta 7s and Apache 7s in their group before knocking out the Navy on the way to the final.
In the final, a penalty try in the last play of the match saw them beat the Army in a thriller, as they picked up the Stafford 7s Cup!
Scimitar Storm Women also had a good tournament, eventually bowing out in the Cup semi-finals.
Both Storm teams will be back in action for the final leg of the Super Sevens Series at Aldershot on Saturday 25 June.
Elsewhere, Scimitar ambassadors Ellie Boatman and Ross Neal enjoyed success.
Ellie helped England Women’s 7s win the Rugby Europe 7s trophy in Croatia – where the Red Roses didn’t concede a single point in their six matches. They beat; Moldova (51-0), Georgia (52-0), Hungary (70-0), Norway (49-0), Sweden (61-0) and Italy in the final (51-0).
Meanwhile Ross scored a try to help Seattle Seawolves hammer San Diego Legion 43-19 in the Major League Rugby Western Conference play-offs.
Seattle now travel to Texas to battle Houston Sabres this Sunday. The winner will be crowned Western Conference champions and will also head into the following weekend for a shot at becoming Major League Rugby Championship winners, up against either New England Free Jacks or Rugby New York.
