Ben Bright | Environmental & Sustainability Chair & Olympic Head Coach | British Triathlon
One of the key reasons we’ve teamed up with Scimitar is because of their great work in recycled sports apparel as well as them putting sustainability at the forefront of everything they do.
The core range of our age group products are all made from 100% recycled materials. Where possible, we always try to use recycled products in our product ranges.
Our athletes love the quality of the products and how they complement the competitive environment which many of them participate in.
In the near future we are aiming for all of our product ranges to be made from completely sustainable sources and we hope that we are one many sporting organisations to do so.
James Pritchard | Supporter Merchandise & Fulfillment Manager | Alzheimer’s Research
We have been using Scimitar’s 100% recycled sportswear for three years now and I have to say at first, I was sceptical of the quality that could be achieved from a recycled material.
We had always had great feedback on the Scimitar event wear made from traditional materials, and it was clear that it worked well as a sports top and as a charity event top, so would it be possible to replicate this?
Any concerns it would seem were unfounded as we have continued to get great feedback from supporters on both the performance of the tops and the design. If anything, the feel, and performance of the recycled material is an improvement on the traditional.
They are extremely comfortable to wear, and the material continues to work to keep you cool as the miles pile up. We also use the recycled material in our cycling tops and get similar feedback on the comfort and fit.
The fact that it is made of 100% recycled materials, and continues to utilise plastic that would otherwise end up in our oceans, fits well with Alzheimer’s Research UK’s own goal to improve the sustainability and environmental impact of our fundraising materials.
We are always looking for ways in which we can reduce and limit our environmental impact and the availability of these recycled tops makes this goal ever more achievable. It is an innovative manufacturing solution that will have a large beneficial effect on sporting events and we are proud to be able to play our part in this.
Sophie Emery | Exeter University Ultimate Frisbee Club
Given the climate crisis, Exeter University announced we are in a “climate emergency”, and as a club we wanted to do our bit to reduce our carbon footprint.
Scimitar’s recycled kit was brilliant and to switch to recycled materials was that easy, it’s a wonder not every brand or club is more sustainable.
The quality is just as excellent as before but it is more environmentally friendly – it’s a win-win.
The Scimitar team are fab, super helpful and friendly, and the kit is great quality. It’s amazing that our kit is sustainably made from recycled materials. It shows how environmentally conscious they are as a brand without sacrificing price or quality.
