Scimitar Sportswear and Scrum V Tours have joined forces to offer innovative ways of repurposing sportswear to much needed areas of Africa, as well as supporting schools with apparel.

It will deliver a ground-breaking new initiative to some of the most underprivileged areas in South Africa to enable them to play rugby.

Scrum5ive was set up in 2020 by founder, Andy Daniel, after seeing how little access there was to grassroots and school rugby due to the lack of kit, boots and equipment. With the help of professional rugby player, Gareth Simpson, and his initiative Rugby Recycled, they have forged a new and exciting partnership with Scimitar to deliver much needed kit to the areas that need it the most.

Gareth starting Rugby Recycled all the way back in 2011 during his days as a student at Durban High School. Since becoming a professional rugby player, Gareth has been able to collect more professional rugby kit and with the help of the UK High Commissioner, have it delivered to South Africa where Andy distributes it.

The first delivery weighed 450kg and consisted of over 150 pairs of boots and over 600 pieces of rugby playing kit and balls.

If I could give 10 stars rather than the maximum of 5, I would gladly give it to Tara and Scimitar for their generosity and goodwill, above and beyond our highest expectations!

I had purchased a £50 gift voucher for my partner from a sports club, which he was unable to redeem as their online shop had closed. I emailed Scimitar to ask if there was any way they might be able to accept this voucher. I had a prompt reply from Tara who, not only searched in the stores for suitable items relating to the gift voucher, sent us a list of kit and accessories, but offered us ALL of the items available, which amounted to almost £300 worth of kit!!

We were absolutely delighted with such a generous act of kindness and cannot praise or thank Tara enough. We had held little hope of retrieving the voucher and this has been like a “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” experience, when Charlie won the Golden Ticket!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

A massive thank you to Ashley for helping us get our race day t-shirts for the JPMorgan Corporate Challenge! We made the request pretty last minute. just about a month before the event, but he was incredibly helpful, responsive, and guided us through the whole process with ease.
